The Latest from Jamie Lidell

Jamie Lidell, known for bouts of funky off-beat electronic and rock-driven neo-soul, will release his fifth album, Compass, on May 18th.
I’m a huge fan because being pinned to a specific genre is not one of Lidell’s strong suits. Compass features elements of Soul, Jazz, R&B, Rock and Folk. Its a groovy and gritty experience that shines particularly well because it’s not over-produced. Lidell’s affinity for moody ballads, organic percussion, deep keys and sequence-augmented vocals will definitely make you clap to the beat.

I can’t wait for the man to come to Brooklyn in June. Check out his other tour dates and streaming tracks on his MySpace page and pre-order his album from his personal site.
Stay tuned.
